Ryan Wilson: What Is The Best Role For Beau Bennett Next Season? Beau Bennett could transition seamlessly into top 6 role with Malkin and Neal.

I am looking forward to seeing him on any line, but I would pencil him in on third line in the preseason and make him earn his way up to the 2nd line. You said it might supress what make his so special but I thought one of his best attributes was his two-way game... I don't doubt it is going to be a long season with lots of line mates, and I also don't doubt that if crosby or malkin goes down jokinen will center on of the top 2 lines... imo Bennett ends up top 6 for the majority of the season out of necessity as opposed to choice.

I think if he holds his own on the second line, that is the spot for him

Makes your third liner that much more dangerous and I think after losing Cooke, it would help the pens if Beau can hang with the big boys

Play a sound defensive game on Geno's line, move his feet and use his smarts and passing to get Neal/Geno open to score. A pass first but with a 20+ goal season

It's odd that Bennett was placed in more confidence building situations as he is a solid two way player. If he moves up, who moves down?

Jokinen would be the guy to drop down.

As we've talked about many, many times: we hope he gets time with Crosby or Malkin. That's a given. If he can be a top 6 player that'd be ideal.

If Crosby is alright with letting Kunitz play with Malkin and bringing Bennett onto his line that would work fine. If Dupuis moves down to the 3rd that would be okay. All hinges on Crosby.

If Neal can play more of a PWF that he displayed in the playoffs then Bennett works there too.

All in all the 3rd line is great if he's there too. Top 9 is the minimum. Top 6 is ideal.

Jokes

No Jussi?
Agreed. Minimum 3rd line duty. Could see 2nd line here and there.

Faceoffs in a pinch obviously too.

Seems pretty realistic. Star factor seems to always play in somehow as well...or so everyone thinks.

Nothing wrong with that. I'm pretty sure we're all with you there.

Shanahan has been decent. There's definitely some players like Rick Nash who have gotten away with some brutal checks. Perry, Brown and Hall also in the mix.

Tough job for sure...especially with new outlook on brain trauma over the past 3 years or so. I guess I'd give him a C+ overall.

He has been far from terrible, just when you see similar hits and different numbers, just confusing.
